Since it’s inception in 1966, Calvary Community Church has proclaimed the simple and beautiful message of the gospel. The facilities have faithfully served the church for 60 years. Calvary has saturated Tampa Bay and the airwaves of radio and internet with the gospel message. The ministry continues to flourish under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and faithful people committed to Jesus Christ.
God has used great pastoral leaders to guide the church over the past six decades. Founding pastor, Dr. Hank Lindstrom, faithfully shepherded the ministry for over 40 years. His leadership saw thousands of souls saved and countless others impacted to share the gospel message with boldness and clarity.
Dr. Ralph “Yankee” Arnold stepped into the role of pastor in 2009 and lead the ministry with confidence and passion until 2021. He brought back foundational ministries such as Tampa Youth Ranch, and founded Florida Bible College of Tampa.
Pastor Jesse Martinez now leads the ministry under the direction of the Lord, and was heavily influenced by the leadership of Dr. Lindstrom and Dr. Arnold. His desire for clarity, simplicity, and assurance from the Bible is demonstrated every time he takes the pulpit.
Many other men and women have been used by God to build this ministry physically and spiritually. Celebration Sunday seeks to remember how Calvary came to be and what will keep it going until the Lord calls us home.
The Refresh for Reach project is nearing the finish line. Celebration Sunday will give us all a chance to see the big reveal of a completely refreshed Sanctuary and front building. The list includes brand new seating and technical upgrades in the Sanctuary, a brand new Legacy Visitor Center, and updated restrooms. Our live stream audience will see a significant upgrade in quality and production.
However, the message stays the same. The only thing changing is the way you see and hear it preached. This is what makes Celebration Sunday so exciting! The venue may have a refreshed look, but the message of the gospel has not, and will not change!
